Our schools should prepare our children for successful futures.

Why new schools?

While some public schools in our city have improved, many in our communities have not.

  • Only 45% of Chicago Public School students graduate from high school.1
  • Only 3 of every 100 African-American and Latino males in Chicago Public Schools earn a college degree.2

Our children deserve a better future.

Independent schools created through CPS' Renaissance 2010 initiative and Illinois Charter School Law provide new options that you should consider.  These new Schools are demonstrating great results. They offer:
  • Innovative and rigorous academic curriculum
  • School leaders with a strong record of performance
  • High expectations for every student
  • More classroom instruction through longer school days
  • High levels of parent involvement and support
  • Safe, healthy and supportive learning environment
  • Sufficient resources to help all students achieve
